Dugdill is a British heritage design company that produces handcrafted lighting.
John Dugdill designed the iconic Dugdill lamp at he dawn of the XX century. In the 1910s, John Dugdill patented one of Britain’s first electric light fittings, which he used to develop the Dugdill lamp.
During World War I, Dugdill supplied lamps to the Royal Navy. In the 1920s, John Dugdill introduced lamps for homes, combining function, durability, and beauty. During World War II, Dugdill lamps lit the Whitehall war rooms, including Churchill’s desk in the map room.
Designed for use in factories, on the high seas, homes, offices, and artist studios, Dugdill lamps combine functionality, history, impeccable craftsmanship and aesthetic appeal that has lasted over a century. The historic Dugdill lamp was revived in 2024.
The revived Dugdill lamp is made and assembled in the UK. We work with local artisan manufacturers to ensure each component is made to the highest standard possible. With the Dugdill revival, we are recovering a piece of heritage design and reimagining it for the XXI century. Swap the table base for a wall fixture, floor stand, or bench clip, shorten it, lengthen it, change the shade; everything can be screwed apart and reassembled. Dugdill is the only fully modular, customisable high-end lamp on the market.
